The Color Green May 16

Coming from a frugal family and being that money was tight, my Grandma never bought me a 64 pack of crayola crayons, I only always got the 8 pk or a couple of times I remember getting a 16 pk.

In the 8 pk I remember there was blue, red, black, purple, and green. I can’t remember the other colors, but today the green is important.

I would imagine that Crayola has gotten many kinds of greens today, blue green, yellow green, etc.

I wonder how many colors of green there are?

Today I stopped, for some unknown reason, from my web surfing, and without removing my eyeglasses, I laid on the bed sideways and looked outside my window.

About 30 feet, maybe, outside my window are some trees, maybe I should say bushes, cos they are not real tall or bushy, they are just some kind of green shrubbery. Standing, I would say, maybe 10-20 ft high, I stared aimlessly at the trees.

I am not sure what it was that fascinated me about these trees, but I couldn’t stop staring at them. A small bird joined me in my gaze as he perched himself on the gutter of the house. He seemed to be as intrigued as I, and who knows the reason?

After staring for quite a while, and hypnotized by the simple beauty of a tree, I realized just how many greens there must be.

After all from my small window I could see many different shades of green. There was dark green, light green, forest green, yellow green, pale green, olive green, “money” green, avacado green, and just plain green! There seems to be as many greens as there are ways to cook shrimp, according to Bubba in “Forest Gump”.

The cluster of green was not alone, as to the right of them were some kind of red berries, although they looked a bit out of place and looked so fragile next to the mighty colors of green, they stood proud, with their “red” shining brightly in the sun.

Towards the bottom of the trees and centered amongst them were some straight, tall yellow small flowers.

The stems were like mini trees, and the flowers were like groups of pin heads, but their color was the color of sunshine.

So brightly standing in front of the green, as if to say, “Look at me, I am hanging with the big guys”!!!
As a gentle breeze came, the greens and the reds, seemed to wave a sincere “Aloha”, while the yellows knew they could withstand even the strongest winds, and seemed to enjoy their powertrip against the trees.
